There are draws that feel like victories. This is the sentiment that best sums up the terrific performance by Nice CPC last night in Argentan (Orne) during the 9th day of the Pro B table tennis championship. A third draw (3-3) was snatched at the end of a suspenseful match by Cรฉdric Rouleau’s men against the league leader, who had a significantly stronger team on the match sheet.

Trailing 2-0 after being defeated by Brazilian Thiago Monteiro and Nigerian Monday Merotohun, and then being down two sets to one in the third game of the evening, in which Nigerian Segun Toriola faced Hungarian David Zombori, the players from the Cรดte d’Azur found incredible resources to bounce back, winning three matches in a row.

After defeating Toriola, Zombori achieved another notable victory against Argentanโ€™s number 1, Monteiro. Meanwhile, Mexican Marcos Madrid secured a hard-fought win against Merotohun. Leading 3-2 to everyone’s surprise, Nice even had a chance to win, but Toriola tightened his game, giving no chance to Varois player Anthony Geminiani.

“This draw is truly unexpected. I congratulate my players for their great fighting spirit and team spirit,” praised president Julien Fraudeau.
