The 20th Nice Côte d’Azur National Table Tennis Open will take place from June 8 to 10, 2012, in the Raoul-Dufy and Eucalyptus halls. Over four days of competition, this major tournament is set to welcome hundreds of table tennis players from all corners of France.
All ages and levels of play will be represented, as the numerous participants will compete in 22 different categories.
With a total prize fund reaching €10,000 for the first time, the organizers are already delighted to welcome some of the best players in the country, notably those playing in the professional Pro A and Pro B championships.
This Open, strategically organized just weeks before the opening of the London Olympic Games, will serve as a preparation tournament for some of those qualified for the big London event.
Nice CPC, ranked 7th in the final standings of the Pro B championship, and whose reserve team was recently crowned French National 3 champions, a rare title that had eluded them until now, will be particularly well-represented. For its players and those from other friendly clubs in the Côte d’Azur League, the presence of big names in French and international table tennis is an exceptional source of motivation.
We can therefore expect epic matches and perhaps some major performances, of which such tournaments are known for. The 20th Nice Côte d’Azur Open is a result of the total commitment of Nice CPC and its team of volunteers, as well as the support of its partners, some of whom are joining for this event. It is also, and perhaps above all, an opportunity to popularize table tennis, the most played sport in the world, yet suffering from a lack of media visibility in Europe.
Throughout the competition, entry will be free and open to everyone to allow as many people as possible to enjoy this high-level sports event in a warm and family-friendly atmosphere. The club and the organizing committee hope to see as many of you as possible over these four days.
