Tahiti and French Polynesia settle in the heart of the city of Nice

For four days, a delegation of over a hundred Tahitians will come to share Polynesian culture and traditions with the people of Nice, in an atmosphere of celebration, enchantment, and enjoyment for all.

The people of Nice will have the opportunity to experience Polynesian time and be captivated by the fragrances, flavors, colors, and enchanting rhythms of the Pacific islands, but above all, by the friendliness of the Tahitians through numerous events, shows, and festive attractions.

Highlights of the Tahitian Week:

Polynesia in images

– The unique event will kick off on Wednesday, August 4th in the evening, at the Theatre of Image and Photography, with an evening featuring award-winning films from the Festival International du Film Ocรฉanien (FIFO), offering a cinematic perspective on Polynesian history and heritage.

A Tahitian Village in the heart of the City

– From Thursday, August 5th, the Theatre de Verdure and the Gardens will be adorned with Tahitian colors. Visitors will explore the richness of Polynesian traditions and arts through a variety of activities, stands, exhibitions, film and documentary screenings about Polynesia, sales of handicrafts, and artisanal and culinary demonstrations.

Celebration, dance, song, and music

Every evening, as night falls, the festivities will unfold with musical evenings, dance shows, and vibrant pareo parades:

– On the evening of Friday, August 6th, the PROMโ€™PARTY will host a Tahitian celebration, featuring parades of vahinรฉs, Haka, tamourรฉ, traditional songs,

– The festivities will peak again on the evening of Saturday, August 7th with the Tahitian Night, where the charm and vitality of the island folklore will set the Stage of the Thรฉรขtre de Verdure ablaze,

– A “Tamure Marathon” will take place on Sunday, August 8th afternoon at the Music Kiosk.

NEW: A canoe race along the azure coast

Physical and sporting activities will also be on the agenda for this week, with two major events not to be missed:

– On Friday, August 5th, a fruit carrier race will take place on the Promenade des Anglais,

– On the morning of Saturday, August 7th, for the first time on the Nice waters: “TAHITIAN VAโ€™A NICE” a Canoe Race from Nice to Villefranche-sur-Mer. Organized in partnership with the Nice Yacht Club, the Club Vai Nui Vaโ€™a of Roquebrune Cap Martin, and the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes, this race will bring together Tahitian paddlers and those of all nationalities, along the coast from Villefranche to the Baie des Anges. The event will be accompanied by festive and musical activities in the best tradition of Tahiti, both in Nice and in Villefranche.
