Teachers’ strike: a demonstration in Nice this Thursday

Latest News

Three weeks after the start of the school year, teachers across France are mobilizing to demand more resources and to criticize the organization of the new term.

Yesterday, four national education unions (FSU, CGT, FO, and Sud) called for action. Teacher strikes exposed their anger to the public by marching across France.

The reasons for the protests are defined in three areas:
Firstly, the salary, considered too low at the start of a career (โ‚ฌ1,450 net per month), is being challenged.
Secondly, the issue is job cuts, while the number of students increases year by year.
The third point concerns teaching conditions, as the government’s responses to requests from national education stakeholders remain unanswered.

In the Alpes-Maritimes, several protests are planned. Notably, in Nice, where the start was set for 10 AM at Place Massรฉna to follow a route up to Place Garibaldi. Other mobilizations are also planned in the Nice Academy, in Toulon, and Draguignan.
