The Jean Vigo hall of the Espace Magnan will therefore welcome cinephiles and enthusiasts starting January 17th. Attached you will find the detailed program (several reruns).
Specific to the Espace Magnan only: as part of its cinema mission, each film will be the subject of a discussion – debate between the audience and a professional (director, philosopher, teacher, journalist) during the 8:30 PM screenings.
Still in the framework of this mission, the Espace Magnan will present Davis Guggenheim’s “An Inconvenient Truth” about Al Gore’s passionate fight to raise awareness among his fellow citizens about global warming, which will be the subject of a relevant meeting… on Friday, January 19th at 8:30 PM with French climate change specialist, Agnès Sinaï.

The best of the 4 French films selected at the last Cannes Film Festival!
The story takes place in Liège, Belgium, today. It’s the story of four men, a woman, and a child who destiny brings together. It is a tale where money is scarce here, too visible there. It’s the story of people who can’t take it anymore, worn out, broken, emptied by their work. It’s the story of men who will take up arms to go get the money where it is, in the pockets of others because they believe they have the right!

New Wave Spirit! A portrait of fiery youth embodied by the rising actors of French cinema (Romain Duris and Louis Garrel).
“In Paris” follows the sentimental adventures of two brothers and thus paints the portrait of a family whose motto would be “Take the trouble to ignore the sadness of your own.” Sprinkled with nods to the New Wave, this film is a strange family melodrama that exudes a brisk charm.

A selection from the Cinema Mission of the Espace Magnan
A film that participates in raising awareness about the perils of our planet.
Rather than sounding the apocalypse alarm, the filmmaker chose to illustrate and relay the passionate struggle of a man, former Vice President Al Gore. For five years, he has been trying to persuade his fellow citizens of the urgency to combat global warming. A true advocacy for the adoption of alternative energy technologies and resources.
