The Alpes-Maritimes once again stepped up for the Telethon. At the end of the thirty-hour event, €434,985 were collected in the department. This provisional amount reflects the commitment of local volunteers and donors to support research and families affected by rare diseases.

The 2024 Telethon concluded nationwide with a final tally of €79,801,520. In the Alpes-Maritimes, €434,985 were collected. This figure, which could still increase, marks an important step in the fight against genetic diseases. Donations, collected on site or via 36 37, will remain possible until Friday, December 6.

This edition highlighted significant advances. Sacha, 8 years old, affected by Duchenne muscular dystrophy, is now benefiting from the effects of gene therapy received two years ago. Now able to run and climb stairs, his story symbolizes the tangible impact of the research funded by the Telethon.

## A Call to Continue the Effort

Laurence Tiennot-Herment, president of AFM-Téléthon, praised the mobilization of donors, volunteers, and teams. She emphasized the importance of sustaining this momentum to enable further successes: *”What the researchers tell us is that they know how to proceed, but they need resources to go further. Every donation counts for the families who are waiting for treatments.”*

In the Alpes-Maritimes, the weekend’s organized actions brought together residents around values of solidarity. Shows, sporting challenges, and charity sales enlivened the department’s towns and villages. Through these initiatives, everyone had the chance to contribute to this collective cause.
