As in the previous edition of the tournament, the player from Northern France was defeated by her friend Tatjana Maria, losing in 3 sets (7-5, 3-6, 7-5). The German will face her compatriot Carina Witthoeft in the semifinals for a remake of the 2015 Open final. The other semifinal will see Maryna Zanevska against Magda Linette.

In 2015, Pauline Parmentier came close to the final but was edged out in 3 sets by Tatjana Maria. A sense of déjà vu lingered over the Open this Friday.

Once again, the power of the Frenchwoman’s shots wasn’t enough to break through the German’s defense. Despite a strong comeback from 4-1 to 4-4, the player from Cucq ultimately faltered at the worst moment in the first set (7-5).

The second set quickly swung in favor of Pauline Parmentier before the final act once again became an intense and uncertain battle. In the end, it was the German who closed out the match (7-5) in 2 hours and 28 minutes, securing her spot in the semifinals.

In the final four, spectators will witness a remake of the 2015 final since Carina Witthoeft also qualified. Facing Ukrainian Kateryna Kozlova, the defending champion came perilously close to elimination. Trailing 6-4, 4-0, she managed to turn the tide to snatch a tiebreak and then win it. With the psychological edge, she then dominated the third set to clinch the victory (4-6, 7-6(4), 6-0).

Already an Open finalist in 2013 and a quarterfinalist in 2014, Maryna Zanevska continues her progress in the tournament. She reached the final four with a swift victory in 1 hour and 14 minutes against the number 2 seed Zarina Diyas (6-2, 6-2).
She will face in the semifinal the Polish player Magda Linette, who managed to overcome Swiss Stefanie Voegele (6-2, 7-6(3)).
