Tennis: Diane Parry soundly defeated by Yulia Putintseva in Wuhan

Latest News

After her defeat in Suzhou on Monday against Yulia Putintseva, Diane Parry faced the Kazakh player again this Saturday. Unfortunately for the Nice native, the match was cut short.

While the first round in Suzhou was somewhat contested between Diane Parry and Yulia Putintseva, this โ€œreturn matchโ€ in the qualifying rounds of the WTA 1000 in Wuhan did not follow the same storyline. The battle quickly ended as Diane Parry only managed to score a single game in the match.

Out of sync with her serve, the player from the Alpes-Maritimes had no chance in this encounter. Although both players struggled in this area with about 55% of first serves, Diane Parry only managed to capitalize on one out of three first serves… It was impossible to compete against an opponent with a fiery return game. Yulia Putintseva never doubted in the first set, which she won (6-1) without effort.

The second set, though slightly more contested, turned into a rout. Despite a brief show of pride in the middle of the set, Diane Parry was unable to convert any break points or get back into the match. The score was harsh (6-1/6-0) in less than an hour, but logical.

She will need to get back to work to try to resolve her serve issues in order to regain a sufficient level of play to compete on the circuit again.
