This Sunday, the draw for the final table of the 19th edition of the Engie Open de Cagnes-sur-Mer Alpes-Maritimes took place. A French duel, uncertain matchups, and others that are more unbalanced will be on the program starting today.

Pauline Parmentier in the quarter of the draw with Tatjana Maria, finalist in 2015

Before the end of the qualifications, which will conclude on Monday, 7 French players are present in the final table, with a fairly even distribution, except for Fiona Ferro and Amandine Hesse who will face each other in the first round. Mathilde Johansson will face Slovak Jana Cepelova and could, if victorious, meet the defending champion and top seed Carina Witthoeft in the second round, who will face a qualifier in the first round.

Pauline Parmentier will have to overcome Serbian Ivana Jorovic, the world No. 150, and could meet her friend Tatjana Maria, 2015 finalist, in the quarter-finals. At the bottom of the draw, Virginie Razzano will battle against a qualifier before potentially playing against the No. 2 seed, Kazakh Zarina Diyas.

Two French players in the final round of the qualifications

Out of the 6 French players surviving the first round of qualifications, only Morgane Pons and Anais Van Cauter managed to pass the second round and will play on Monday morning for a spot in the final table. It’s over, however, for Claire Feuerstein, Estelle Cascino, Kinni Laisne, and Marie Temin, who was forced to retire after the seventh game played.
