Thanks to a generous donation of €30,000, the Antoine Lacassagne Center created an animated film to explain radiotherapy treatment to children.

“The story begins in September 2017,” explains Dr. Pierre-Yves Bondiau, a radiotherapist at the Antoine Lacassagne Center. “Mr. Dave, whom I treated with radiotherapy at the Mediterranean Institute of Proton Therapy and who therefore met children in the waiting room who were also awaiting their treatment, told me he wanted to do ‘something’ for these children. His idea is simple and precise: to create an animated film to explain to children their future treatment and help them better understand the process.”

This Thursday, the entire radiotherapy team from the Center, the establishment’s management, and MO Studio, the agency that produced the film, presented to Mr. Dave the four versions of the animated film that he made possible thanks to his very generous donation of €30,000.

The year 2018 was dedicated to the production of these four films: writing the scripts and dialogues, choosing the characters and drawing style, coloring, selecting the children’s voices, recording the dialogues, choosing and producing the music, and mixing.

“These four films are the result of the work of an entire team: doctors, physicists, radiographers, nurses, medical assistants, health coordinators, the Patient Commission, the Communication Department, and the production agency MO Studio. We are extremely grateful to Mr. Dave for allowing us to realize this beautiful project that will accompany children and their parents and also help us, as caregivers, to explain and reassure young patients about their treatment,” commented Dr. Pierre-Yves Bondiau.
