Nice Premium presents to you, in a few figures, the history of Talents des Cités…

Since 2002, Talents des Cités has rewarded 338 entrepreneurs and association creators, based in priority neighborhoods of the Urban Policy. This has enabled them to access all the support for business creation and the development of sustainable employment, in areas particularly affected by unemployment.

In 2010, the Talents des Cités juries gathered 120 experts, reviewed 330 applications, and selected 39 winners. The national jury, composed of organizers and partners, designated 11 national winners. In the “Creation” category, the sectors represented are mainly business services (45%), personal services (30%), and trade (25%).

talents.jpg Launched at the initiative of the Ministry of Cities and the Senate, the Talents des Cités competition rewards, for the 10th consecutive year, the men and women who create their businesses and thus contribute to economic development and job creation, in priority neighborhoods of the Urban Policy.

It is co-organized by the National Agency for Social Cohesion and Equal Opportunities (Acsé), the Caisse des Dépôts, and BGE (formerly Boutiques de Gestion), with the support of the General Secretariat of the Interministerial Committee for Cities, in partnership with the National Agency for Urban Renewal (Anru), the SFR Foundation, Société Générale, the Casino Group, GDF SUEZ, the RATP Foundation, the Safran Group, FinanCités, the HEC Group, Talan, the XXIe Century Club, the Regional Daily Press (SPQR), Public Sénat, and France Télévisions.

To participate

Talents des Cités is open to creators of activities (businesses and associations) under the age of 40, located in a priority neighborhood of the Urban Policy.

Participants register in one of the following two categories:

“Creation”: for those who have created their business or activity between January 2008 and December 2010,

“Emergence”: for those who have a business project.
To participate, candidates must have their project validated or be accompanied by a business creation advisory body.

The 2011 Talents des Cités calendar

May 31 / midnight: registration deadline

June/July : regional juries
Organized by the BGE and presided over by senators, the regional juries will select a winner in each category. The winners of the “Emergence” category will receive 1,500 €.
The winners of the “Creation” category will receive an endowment of 3,000 €.

September : the national jury at the Ministry of Cities
Among the regional winners, the national jury will designate 12 national winners.
Each will receive 7,000 € and will be actively supported in their endeavors by one of the Talents des Cités partners.

October, The Senate honorary jury:
It will designate the “Grand Prix Talents des Cités 2011” and the “Special Mention 2011”, each endowed with 5,000 €.

The official award ceremony will take place in the Senate hemicycle, in the presence of Government members, Talents des Cités partners, and numerous personalities from the economic, sports, and cultural spheres.

Candidate evaluation criteria

  • Creator’s trajectory – motivation, entrepreneurial profile
  • Economic and financial viability of the project
  • Impact on the neighborhood – job creation and social linkage
  • Mission as “neighborhood ambassador” – willingness to change the image of neighborhoods, help other young people to undertake
