What is the World Social Forum (WSF)? The WSF was born in Porto Alegre, Brazil, in 2001 at the initiative of civil society actors from both the Global South and North, to make their voices heard and present alternatives to globalization while the World Economic Forum in Davos was being held.
The first global meeting in 2001 was such a success that it sparked the creation of continental, national, and local forums within this process of building alternatives.
The Alpes-Maritimes Departmental Social Forum (DSF 06)
The Departmental Social Forum (DSF 06) is an open space for plural, diverse, non-governmental, and non-partisan meetings. These gatherings encourage debate, reflection, proposal formulation, experience exchange, and interaction between organizations and movements engaged in concrete actions for the construction of another, more solidary, democratic, and just world.
Global problem but local action: another world is possible, here too!
The growing economic and social poverty worldwide prompts NGOs to act locally, participate in the public debate, and change the rules of the game for greater equity.
The DSF 06 honors the citizens, associations, and collectives from across the department who strive to prove that another world is also possible in our area!
