The only festival in the world dedicated to comedy is organizing its eleventh edition in Monaco under the patronage of the Italian Embassy in the Principality of Monaco. The president of the artistic committee will be Lina Wertmuller, an Italian film screenwriter and director. The jury will be presided over by Vittorio Storaro, a three-time Oscar winner for cinematography.
From February 18 to 22, the eleventh edition of the Monte-Carlo Film Festival will take place. The festival, conceived by Ezio Greggio, who is its president, is carried out in collaboration with the Italian Embassy at the Théâtre des Variétés, the Club Crem, and the Auditorium Rainier III.
Following the continuous growth of previous editions, reached during the tenth edition, the eleventh edition sees the comedy festival as an opportunity to draw attention to a European life for box office comedy films in their respective countries.
Thus, in the presence of Mario Monicelli, the president of the artistic committee, the famous Lina Wertmuller, Vittorio Storaro, Oscar winner and renowned cinematographic photographer, films will be screened that tell stories with gags, flaws, vices, ticks, lifestyles, and follies that can be seen in countries different in nature and culture. But all these films being screened have a common denominator: the smile.
The best comedies that have received the most national acclaim in the majority of European countries during 2013 will be screened.
Additionally, there will be special events, exceptional previews, screenings, and debates for schools.
Besides the presence of French, Italian, and Spanish comedies, high-quality Russian comedies will be premiered “out of competition.”
The traditional “Comedy Gala,” filmed by Canal 5, along with three other channels this year, will conclude the festival on Saturday, February 22, at the Auditorium Rainier III.
The winners of the various categories will be celebrated during this event by Claude Brasseur, the guests of honor, as well as the usual master of ceremonies and father of the house, Ezio Greggio, accompanied by Miss Canada for an “all-stars” evening, which characterizes the uniqueness of the event.
