This exceptional session will take place on Saturday, November 20, 2010, at 4:00 PM, at the Mercury cinema, and will be presented by Vincent Roussel, specialist of Gérard Courant and host of the blog Le journal cinéma du Dr Orlof.

Gérard Courant is a French filmmaker, writer, actor, poet, and independent producer born on December 4, 1951, in Lyon (France), the city where cinema was invented. He is the son of writer and historian René Courant. He is one of the most prolific filmmakers in cinema. He invented, directed, and produced Cinématon, the world’s longest film (it lasts 154 hours).

In total, he has shot over 4,000 filmed portraits and a very significant number of other films (over 300) since the mid-1970s. Gérard Courant is also the author of a filmed diary (Les Carnets), several books on cinema and poetry, and his films have been awarded at numerous festivals around the world.

The selection will include 10 of the famous Cinématons as well as a collection from 1980 to 2009. A unique opportunity to discover a rare artist.
