One of the greatest and most inventive and modern poets of the 19th century was a woman, Emily Dickinson (1830-1886), a leading figure this spring colored woman. Her enigmatic personality – dressed in white, she lived voluntarily reclusive for many years. Her work blends intimate feelings and universal themes.
