Here we go, with the arrival of the King and Queen yesterday at Place Masséna, the Nice Carnival festivities are officially open with the first battle of flowers taking place this afternoon on the Promenade des Anglais.
Then, at 9 PM, it will be time for the first illuminated carnival parade, consisting of 18 floats dedicated to the gourmet theme of this 130th anniversary: Gastronomy. Some beautiful surprises to expect…
Tomorrow, Sunday, the morning will be sporty with the Rock n’ Roll Carnival 10 miles of Nice, a 16 km race where participants, mostly dressed up, run accompanied by Rock bands throughout the course. Then at 11 AM on Quai des Etats-Unis, there will be a charity Zumba party in aid of “Défi de femmeś.”
Time to enjoy a good Socca in Albert 1st Gardens and the first Sunday parade will unveil itself in broad daylight and under a bright sun…

Saturday, February 15
2:30 PM – Battle of flowers – Promenade des Anglais
The first battle of flowers where 20 floats adorned with fresh flowers will be launched to spectators by models dressed in costumes created on the theme of Gastronomy.
9 PM – Illuminated Parade – Place Masséna and around Albert 1st Garden
The first illuminated carnival parade, consisting of 18 floats that mock and have fun with gastronomy in all its forms.
Sunday, February 16
9 AM – Rock n’ Roll Carnival 10 miles of Nice
A 16 km race where participants, mostly dressed up, run accompanied by Rock bands throughout the course. The start is on the Promenade des Anglais and ends at Place Masséna, via the airport and the port. In 2013: 2800 participants (registration is still open)
11 AM – Charity Zumba party in aid of “Défi de femmeś” – Quai des Etats-Unis
(Registration from 10 AM on-site – 5 €)
A healthy physical activity that will benefit this association for the support of women affected by cancer.
11 AM – Socca party – Albert 1st Garden
Like every Sunday during the carnival, the Socca party is a moment of sharing where everyone can buy and taste the local specialty: Socca, around tables available… with musical entertainment!
