The forecourt of the General Council had the look of an open-air gymnasium for the launch of the 2014 sports caravan.
Eric Ciotti, the deputy-president of the General Council of Alpes-Maritimes (CG 06), and Philippe Manassero, president of the Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee of Alpes-Maritimes (CDOS 06), officially inaugurated the 2014 season of the sports caravan.
The forecourt of the General Council of Alpes-Maritimes was transformed momentarily into a mini sports complex, featuring demonstrations of fencing, volleyball, badminton, basketball, and even trampoline.
Jรฉrรดme Ardissone, world champion in full contact, Patrice Baratero, who participated in the Sochi Paralympics in parasnowboard, and Adeline May, world champion in savate French boxing in 2011, were present to dignify this 13th edition. The three athletes will also be part of the first stage of the sports caravan on June 29 in Saint Dalmas Valdeblore.
This event is organized by the CDOS 06, in partnership with the CG 06. During the two months of school holidays, the caravan will travel along the coast, highlands, and midlands, allowing children aged 4 to 16 to try more than twenty sports activities for free, including baseball, cycling, table tennis, karate, pรฉtanque, etc.
Through this event, the Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee 06 aims to convey values to young people, such as respect for the rules, combating discrimination and violence, and tolerance towards opponents and teammates.
