The 14th edition of the “Printemps des Poètes” will take place from March 5 to 18, 2012. Its theme, Childhoods, “aims to invite us to consider the words poets speak about beginnings, the learning of the world between wounds and wonders, the appetite for life and the confrontation with ‘harsh reality,’ how their writing also retains the memory of the initial, free, and creative relationship with language.”
It will also be an opportunity to highlight this poetry that considers the child as an interlocutor, if not exclusive, at least primary, a ‘poetry for youth’ that, escaping all didacticism, has profoundly renewed itself over recent decades,” says Jean-Pierre Siméon, Artistic Director of the “Printemps des Poètes”.
Created in 1999, “Le Printemps des Poètes” is a national event that promotes poetry and particularly contemporary poetry.
Over the years, this event has won over France and the Francophonie. Each year, a theme is proposed – but not imposed – around which various events are organized, each more diverse than the last.
For many years, the municipalities and associations of the Azur Provence Pole have been working to offer a program.
In 2012, the Community of Agglomeration joins the existing network, wishing to support this territorial dynamic.
“Poetry? Poetry!” a new identity for a different way of approaching “Le Printemps des Poètes”!
Poetry? Because the poetry learned in school or rediscovered at the turn of a meeting, a love, questions and challenges us.
Poetry! Because poetry holds a significant place in our lives and though it may seem so foreign, it will eventually find its way to us… Let’s give it an entryway!
“Poetry? Poetry!” because this March, you have the chance to rediscover this beautiful way of handling language, our language.
From March 2 to 24, the five municipalities will offer a diverse program: dance, readings, exhibitions, meetings… to share and savor.
