Saint Lucy’s Day is a celebration that marks the beginning of the Christmas period, along with Advent.
Traditionally an important feast throughout Western Christianity, it is now particularly celebrated in Scandinavia and Southern Europe.
The celebration of Saint Lucy’s Day will begin at 5:30 PM at the Verdure Theater, where Rudy Salles and Johan Wretman, the honorary consul of Sweden, will speak before the procession sets off towards the Ferris wheel in the Christmas Village.
The celebration will conclude at the Anglican Church of the Holy Trinity (on Rue de la Buffa in Nice) with recitations in Swedish and a concert starting at 7 PM. Traditional songs will be performed by the Saint Lucy’s choir, accompanied by solo musicians, pianists, and organists.
