Latest News

The Challenge Trail 06 began yesterday. From March 10 to November 24, 2024, runners will have the opportunity to push their limits in the Alpes-Maritimes department. Here is all the information on this 17th edition.

552 km over 15 dates. This year, the Challenge Trail 06, organized by the Departmental Running Commission 06 with the support of the Alpes-Maritimes Department, promises exciting races for athletes. They will encounter the classics: the Trail des Balcons d’Azur in Mandelieu, the Escarénoise, and the legendary Ultra Trail Côte d’Azur Mercantour in Saint-Martin-Vésubie. But that’s not all. Two races are making a comeback in Saint-Jeannet and Valdeblore. There are also new additions with events in Villars-sur-Var, Isola, and Biot.

Since 2008, the Challenge Trail 06 has continuously evolved. Charles Ange Ginésy, President of the Alpes-Maritimes Department, highlights this. “A symbol of the Challenge’s ambition to preserve our beautiful nature, since the last edition, disposable plastic marking tape has been replaced with a reusable marking system, which the Department aims to extend to its other trail events.” The challenge is part of the GREEN Deal policy led by the Department since 2017. With a commitment to preserving nature, organizers are raising awareness among runners to minimize their environmental impact. An eco-responsible attitude must be adopted.

The complete program

The competition will last eight months. It kicked off yesterday with the Biotrail in Biot over 12 km. It will conclude with the Trail du soleil on November 24 in Levens. Two distances will be offered: 16 or 30 km. The ascent of mont Férion marks the grand finale of the 2024 Challenge edition.
