The 18th Shoe Pyramids to celebrate 30 years of solidarity

This Saturday, September 29, the Shoe Pyramids organized by Handicap International will take place in about thirty cities in France. In Nice, it will be held in the Albert 1st Garden where you can help grow the pyramid and enjoy numerous activities and performances.


handicap_international.jpg This year, this annual day of mobilization against anti-personnel mines and cluster bombs (BASM) will be an opportunity to celebrate 30 years of solidarity and action in favor of the most vulnerable people worldwide, especially those with disabilities.

Throwing a shoe, signing a petition… these are seemingly trivial acts, but they are powerful and symbolic gestures to protest against the use of anti-personnel mines and cluster bombs (BASM).

A civic and festive event offering the public activities throughout the day.

Handicap International, with support from the city of Nice, invites the people of Nice to participate in this great day of public mobilization at Albert 1st Garden from 10 am to 7 pm.

Visitors can explore an exhibition on the fight against mines and BASM, sign the petition, and add as many pairs of shoes as possible to the pyramid.

But also enjoy a host of activities:

At 10:30 am, 12 pm, 2 pm, 4 pm, and 6 pm: Simulation of a polluted area and demining demonstrations.

From 10 am to 7 pm: Parade of vintage cars.

At 10:30 am and 5:30 pm: Harley Davidson rides by Les Harley Du Cœur.

From 10 am to 6 pm: Kids’ area with face painting stand and participation from 6 professional makeup artists including Cyrilla Eynard from “Cyr Make Up”.

From 10 am to 7 pm: Massages offered by the Solidarité Du Cercle Des Etudiants Kinés Niçois and by Atman Osteopathic Campus for the benefit of Handicap International.

Artists: Nemo, Sylvian, Michel Deuff, Samitoon, Moya, and Cosimi,

Various activities such as: the clown parade and stilts performance by La Mus’en Scène (2 pm-5 pm), live ice sculpture by Mario Amégée (world champion 2005 and 2011), or “A wooden path that leaves traces, raising awareness about disability” by the A.P.F, Alpes-Maritimes Delegation.

11 am: Presence of the professional club Nice Volley Ball.

2:00 pm – 4:30 pm: Le Bloco Pangaea – Afro-Brazilian group.

1:30 pm: ANCA – Country dances.

2:10 pm: Qi Gong, Taiji Quan.

2:50 pm: Les Cigales d’Azur – French variety songs

3:00 pm – 3:30 pm: Procession of a giant shoe made by Scouts and Guides of France. Departure from Fabron, behind the Radisson Hotel.

3:30 pm: Kung Fu – School of 9 Dragons, ADAMA Association.

4:10 pm: Aikido, karate, urban and oriental dances – Arts Loisirs 06.

5:00 pm: Cavigal Danse Evolution – African dances.

5:20 pm: Ma S Kit and Lenyrix – rap music.

6:00 pm: Les P’tits Gars Laids – French songs.
