For the 19th consecutive year, the EDHEC Aventures association, composed of EDHEC students, is organizing the Raid EDHEC from May 30th to June 3rd, 2012. This is a 5-day sporting race in the Nice hinterland.
President Jérémy Desdouets’ remarks: “The Raid EDHEC, rich in its 19 editions, is a demanding yet very friendly raid. The Raid EDHEC also highlights the Nice hinterland. This year’s finish in the heart of Nice, on the Promenade des Anglais facing the Théâtre de Verdure, aims to be a true bridge between Nice, the Mediterranean metropolis, and the mountainous hinterland.
All these ingredients make the Raid EDHEC a must-attend competition in the world of French raids, bringing together the best national teams for a competition that promises to be challenging and exciting.”
Known as one of the most demanding Raids in France, the Raid EDHEC 2012 will take place over a 250 km course with more than 10,000 meters of positive elevation, combining trail running, biathlon, mountain biking, climbing (with via ferrata), and white-water sports (sea kayaking, canyoning). Teams, composed of 4 people, including at least one female member, are both students and professionals.
A new feature this year, the Raid EDHEC has been selected as one of the 10 stages of the National Challenge GNRMN (National Grouping of Nature Multisport Raids), which has attracted high-level teams, such as the Quechua Team, several times world champions.
On Wednesday, May 30th, the 20 teams will set off for an unforgettable 5-day adventure in the Roya Valley: once again this year, the beauty of the landscapes and immersion in an extraordinary natural setting will be highlights.
On Sunday, June 3rd, after 4 days of complete escape, the contestants will cross the finish line arch on the Promenade des Anglais, at the level of the Théâtre de Verdure, in the heart of our “Sport and Nature” finish village.
Open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., this village, composed of stands animated by local associations and companies, is worth visiting with family: many attractions will be reserved for children, including a climbing wall and a bouncy castle. A raffle will be organized, with a mountain bike worth 600 euros as the prize.
Note the presence of Nastasia Noens, one of France’s best skiers and the patron of the Raid EDHEC 2012, who will hold an autograph booth.
