The 1st Nice Mont Ventoux Challenge is a cycling challenge that involves connecting Nice to Mont Ventoux in 3 non-timed stages. This challenge is part of the “Entreprise en Forme” program led by the UPE06, which aims to promote physical activity among company directors and their employees.
It is already part of the calendar of excellence events on the Côte d’Azur.
The peloton will consist of a team of 25 sporty company directors from around the world (France, Monaco, Belgium, Russia, USA). The start of Stage 1 Nice / Moustiers Sainte Marie will be given on Thursday, June 12, from the Promenade des Anglais by Yvon Grosso, president of UPE06, from Hi Beach.
The route of this stage: Nice / Cagnes sur Mer / Pont du Loup / Gourdon / Causols / Andon / Gorges du Verdon / Aiguines / Moustiers Sainte Marie. The stage will be 155km with a 2,500m elevation gain.
The second stage will start from Moustiers on Friday, June 13, to Mazan at the foot of Mont Ventoux. The stage will be 135km with a 1,500m elevation gain.
The third stage will start from Mazan on Saturday, June 14, heading towards Bédoin before climbing Mont Ventoux. After the ascent, participants will return to Mazan via Sault and the magnificent Gorges de la Nesque. The stage will be 100km with a 2,000m elevation gain.
For Jean-Baptiste WIROTH, creator and organizer of the 1st Nice Mont Ventoux Challenge: “The challenge is already a success in terms of participation. We didn’t expect to be fully booked by April. This confirms that participants are looking for sporting adventures with a tourist dimension. In this particular case, the participants are company directors who are all aware that regular cycling is a good way to stay fit and relieve stress. We will do everything possible to make this adventure as friendly as possible, which is why each stage will be interrupted by a picnic, which will be a real moment of sharing. Our main goal is to make them want to return with friends and indirectly inspire cycling vocations!”
