The campus of trades and qualifications: a new model of educational organization

The law for the refoundation of the school on July 8, 2013, aims to enhance vocational education, a key to productive recovery and young peopleโ€™s professional integration. The creation of the Campus of Trades and Qualifications fits within this perspective.

The Campus of Trades and Qualifications closely associates the different training paths within well-identified poles. It brings together vocational training stakeholders around an economic sector: vocational and general high schools, apprenticeship training centers, training organizations, higher education institutions, research laboratories, and companies.

It offers a range of general, technological, and vocational training up to the highest level. Distinct from vocational high schools, it also aims to encourage innovation and offer a variety of services such as accommodation, access to associative, sports, and cultural activities.

The campus of trades and qualifications highlights local synergies among vocational training of National Education, research, and economic actors. It allows enhanced partnership between National Education, communities, and businesses, with the goal of openness to the territory and beyond.

On October 14, 2013, the Minister of National Education announced the labeling of the first twelve campuses of trades and qualifications in the sectors of aeronautics, construction and public works, new energies, metallurgy, and plastics.

Following the second wave of labeling, the file of the Campus of Trades and Qualifications in Tourism, Hospitality, and Catering of the Nice academy was selected by a National Labeling Commission.
