The end of the school year is also an occasion for some evaluations… among which we can consider the education prize, created in 1975 on the initiative of the sports academy and since 1987 placed under the patronage of the Minister of National Education.
What qualities are required for this prize?
The recipients of the academic prize (as well as the national prize) must possess qualities ranging from academic success to sporting achievements and commitment to community service. They will thus have been able to demonstrate their ability to commit at all levels within the institution and externally.
Recteur Claire Lovisi presented the academic prize yesterday at the rectorate of the Academy of Nice during an official ceremony.
Madam Recteur wished to accompany this gesture with encouraging words: “I am proud of these young people, I congratulate them for their academic and sports achievements and for their civic commitment.”
The academic prize was awarded to Gabie Champeaux, a first-year science student at Lycée de la Montagne de Valdeblore, along with a check for 1,000 euros and a medal.
An ideal and exemplary student, Gabie Champeaux has a general average of 15/20 over 2 years and 18.5/20 in physical education over 2 years. A highly accomplished athlete (ski, climbing, cross-country, rugby…), pianist, and engaged in school life, Patrick Rozand, the principal of the high school says of her that “her behavior is more than exemplary in all respects… with a tireless work ethic, great curiosity, much generosity, and tolerance.”
She also received the medal from the regional Olympic and sports committee, presented by Martine Sanguinetti, representing the Olympic and Sports Committee of the Côte d’Azur, and the prize from the National Union of School Sports presented by Bernard Dutard, representing the U.N.S.S. with a gift voucher of 300 euros.
In the Academy of Nice, the tradition is that during the presentation of the Education prize, regional and local institutions award additional rewards that commend meritorious students whose profiles have been selected by the academic jury. The criteria for awarding these are the same as those required for the academic education prize.
The prize from the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region was presented by Patrick Allemand, first Vice-president of the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur region, to Eli Serra, a first-year vocational student at Lycée professionnel Golf Hôtel de Hyères, with a gift voucher of 500 euros.
Sophia Matakheria and Téona Matakheria, first-year management and technology students at Lycée Calmette in Nice, received the medal of the city of Nice, presented by Jacques Dejeandile, municipal councilor delegated to accessibility and education, as well as the prize from the regional Olympic and sports committee consisting of a check for 250 euros.
The youth and sports prize was presented by Joëlle Demouge, representing the regional director of youth, sports, and social cohesion, to Aline Chauffard, a first-year science student at Lycée international de Valbonne with a gift voucher of 300 euros for the purchase of sports equipment.
A very beautiful celebration that took place in a friendly atmosphere in the presence of many personalities, the parents of the laureates, their teachers, and their school principals.
