The 2018 budget of the Region will be submitted to the vote of regional representatives on December 15th. Yesterday morning, the plenary assembly discussed the general guidelines that inspire it.
This budget is developed around three main themes โ authority, listening, proximity โ “with results over 3 years and a vision over 20 years,” which are the two axes of Renaud Muselier’s policy.
As a reminder, from 2014 to 2017, state allocations to local authorities decreased by 29 billion euros, with a reduction of 252 million euros for the Provence-Alpes-Cรดte d’Azur Region alone.
The Prime Minister announced for 2018 the elimination of the compensation fund for the transfer of economic competence from the Departments to the Regions, resulting in a decrease of 35 million euros for Provence-Alpes-Cรดte d’Azur.
Despite this, the 2018 budget for the Region will increase from 2.2 to 2.4 billion euros.
This increase is explained by the transfers of competencies, notably the management of school transport for 55,000 students, which represents 70 million euros. The priority will be given to apprenticeships, the economy, and green growth and economy.
