The Côte d’Azur (Alpes-Maritimes and Monaco) continues to be a region that attracts visitors: the overall attendance in 2018 confirms the excellent level reached in 2017, with over 11 million stays.
A notable aspect of this report is the increase in foreign stays, which helped offset the decline in French tourist demand. Indeed, foreign clientele approached nearly 6 million foreign stays for the first time, representing 54% of the total, with a 1% increase in foreign stays at hotels and residences*.
2018 also marks a very good year for the tourism-related economy, as it accounts for 15% of the Côte d’Azur’s GDP and generates 75,000 direct jobs. In the same vein, hotel stays crossed the threshold of 5 million stays in hotels and residences, as has been the case every year since 2015.
Average prices in urban hotels (MKG panel) increased by 3%, and RevPar by 5%.
