The 20th edition of Handicap International’s Shoe Pyramid

Latest News

On September 20, Handicap International will celebrate the 20th edition of the Shoe Pyramids across France.

In Paris, Lyon, Nice, and about thirty other French cities, citizens are called upon to place a pair of shoes on the Shoe Pyramid erected by Handicap International as a sign of indignation, and to sign the petition to increase pressure on states and end the scandal of mines and cluster munitions.

The public will have the opportunity to support demining and victim assistance efforts led by Handicap International worldwide: โ‚ฌ2 allows for the demining of 1mยฒ of contaminated land, for example, in Mozambique.

This 20th edition will feature an unprecedented scenography in the cities of Paris, Lyon, and Nice, where up to 600 square meters of a village polluted by explosive remnants of war will be recreated.

The public will be invited to embark on a sensory journey “immersed” in the daily lives of inhabitants of contaminated villages.

Only safe paths can be used to reach different points in the village: the village center, the polluted zone where demining demonstrations will take place, the deminers’ rest camp where visitors can interact, the rehabilitation center where they will be invited to test a walking rehabilitation course, and the hospital where victims will testify.
