The 21st edition of the Science Festival will take place from October 10 to 14, across the entire French territory, spotlighting “Energy for All” within the context of “2012: International Year of Sustainable Energy for All.”
This event, initiated by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, welcomed in 2011 more than 29,000 visitors in the Alpes-Maritimes alone, including 10,700 students spread across about twenty sites, and nearly one million visitors nationwide.
Its coordination in the department is managed by PERSAN, Pรดle Enseignement Recherche Sophia Antipolis Nice, with the support of the PACA Regional Council, the Regional Delegation for Research and Technology, and the CASA. The General Council of Alpes-Maritimes provides support for student transportation and communication.
Entirely free, it offers the dynamic scientific culture network of the department, composed of around a hundred project leaders (research organizations, laboratories, educational institutions, museums, associations, etc.), the opportunity to share five days of activities, games, fun, and festive shows around sciences and their applications with students and the public of all ages.
The program of Alpes-Maritimes proposes this year once again, among the approximately 90 events organized for students and the general public in Antibes, Contes, Grasse, Menton, Nice, Sigale, Sophia Antipolis, Vallauris, several flagship operations with high visibility:
*The 7th edition of the “Fรชte de la Science du CIV”*, a true science fair for students throughout the week at the Centre International de Valbonne, also hosting external classes,
*The 8th edition of the Science Village in Nice, Campus Valrose*: which has become an unmissable event of the Science Festival, the village will offer, from Wednesday, October 10 to Sunday, October 14, stalls of activities and experiments, a science cafรฉ, a science cinema, as well as fun activities.
These numerous activities will be presented under more than 600 mยฒ of tents set up in the park, thus covering all scientific disciplines, sciences in the broad sense (organized with the support of the City of Nice).
*The 3rd edition of the “Science Weekend of Sophia Antipolis”*
For the third consecutive year, Sophia Antipolis will celebrate science with its “Village of the Science Weekend of Sophia Antipolis” on October 13 and 14. The program includes numerous stands and workshops animated by a scientific treasure hunt. This year, the village will be organized at the Agora of the Centre International de Valbonne, a large exhibition space widely open to the Parc du Haut Sartoux to give this place, for the duration of a weekend, a scientific and festive dynamic, in addition to its sporting and family aspect (organized with the support of the city of Valbonne and the CIV) – [Science Weekend Website](https://www.we-des-sciences.fr) – Contact: PERSAN – pascale.limozin@persan.asso.fr – 06 20 30 02 32.
