The 23rd Occitan Dictation in Nissart returns this weekend.

Latest News

The 23rd edition of the Dictada Occitana in Nissart will be held this Sunday, January 19, at 3 PM, at Notre Dame de Bon Conseil. This event, open to all and free of charge, promises an afternoon of exchanges around the Nissart language.

This edition will be dedicated to Christian Bezet, an author, composer, and singer of works such as “Amploa” and “Lo mago d’en Castรจu,” who passed away in June 2024. The event will also pay tribute to Annie and Ben Vautier, who contributed to the project with their famous writing in March 2024.

Organized by the Calandreta Nissarda Maurรญs school, the Dictada Occitana highlights the Nissart language, traditionally oral. Created in Castres in 1998, this initiative was adopted in Nice in 2003. Today, it takes place in 28 cities of linguistic Occitania and even abroad, notably in Barcelona and the Valencian Community.

In the Alpes-Maritimes, the event will take place in Coaraze, Menton, Lโ€™Escarรจne, and Nice. In Nice, two dictations are planned: on January 19 at 3 PM at Notre Dame de Bon Conseil. A second dictation will be held on January 25 at 10:30 AM at the CUM.

A competition open to all

The Dictada Occitana is also a competition open to all audiences. Participants will write a text adapted to their level: 42 words for children, 59 for middle schoolers, 97 for high schoolers, and 130 for adults. All spellings are accepted. The texts will be corrected by two teachers: Franc Baldet and Cristรฒu Daurore.

The program includes welcoming participants and personalities from 3 PM. The afternoon will continue with the presentation of the event and the tributes. Songs in Nissart, performed by local artists and students, will punctuate the day. The prize and gift-giving will conclude this convivial afternoon.
