After the success of the first edition and its 450,000 visitors, the Alpes-Maritimes Department is launching the new edition of the Festival of Gardens, which was presented yesterday in the magnificent setting of the Eillen Rioc City in Antibes.
Throughout the month of April 2019, the Festival will include a landscape creation competition open to professionals, non-competitive ephemeral gardens offered by various municipalities, and events throughout the department.
Marina PICASSO, the painter’s granddaughter, is the patron of the 2019 edition.
5 municipalities will each host 3 original landscape creations (a total of 15 gardens in competition):
* Antibes – Pinède Gould de Juan-les-Pins
* Cannes – Jardin de la villa Rothschild
* Grasse – Jardin de la villa Fragonard
* Menton – Jardin Biovès
* Nice – Jardin Albert Ier promenade du Paillon
During the presentation, Charles-Ange Ginésy announced that this event will be labeled “GREEN Deal” with a special prize awarded to the most ecological garden.
Ephemeral gardens will be created, even if non-competitive:
A “school” garden created by the horticultural school of Antibes in partnership with the National Union of Landscape Companies, as well as a garden created by Stéphane MARIE, the passionate presenter of the show “Silence Ça Pousse!” on France 5.
Other non-competitive gardens can also be visited in Saint-Jean Cap Ferrat and Monaco.
