The 2nd edition of the “Senior” Pétanque: aim well!

Latest News

A noble and friendly activity, combining skill and tactical intelligence, pétanque is an emblematic tradition of the Mediterranean lands.

In the Alpes-Maritimes, it brings together nearly 10,000 licensed players, not to mention all those for whom it is a leisure activity to be shared with family or friends.

The Department already hosts one of the largest international pétanque competitions, the Europétanque des Alpes-Maritimes.

That is why, in 2016, it decided to include it in its “Seniors in Action” program of activities and proposed the 1st edition of the “Pétanque Seniors 06” competition.

This 1st edition was a great success and brought together 660 seniors (220 teams of three) who registered for the 29 preliminary rounds.

Naturally, there will be a 2nd edition of “Pétanque Seniors 06”.

This entirely free competition is open to amateurs over the age of 55 residing in the Alpes-Maritimes. It will feature teams of free triples and will take place in all participating municipalities and boules courts.

This year, teams qualifying from the selection days will meet for a major qualifying day on Thursday, July 20, at the Henri Bernard bowling alley in Nice.

At the end of this day, the four semi-finalist teams will compete during the Europétanque, an internationally renowned sporting event, in a grand finale on Sunday, July 23.
