If the current economic crisis is exacerbating the difficulties faced by businesses and compromising household solvency, what real impact does it have on property ownership? Is acquiring housing facilitated by changes in bank rates, and what is now the average housing price per square meter? These are questions that will find their answers at the roundtable discussions organized on Monday, May 11, 2009.
Aware that the housing deficit for working individuals is still very significant in relation to demand, the Land Pact 06 aims to accelerate the production of subsidized housing by 2011. Thanks to the mobilization efforts of the Nice Cรดte d’Azur Chamber of Commerce and its partners, housing for workers is at the core of the concerns of institutional actors in the Azur region.
In addition to reviewing the progress of the 12 proposals for worker housing, the 3rd Housing Conference will also be an opportunity to listen to the expectations of local businesses. Offering them information, support, and the necessary tools has now become a priority so that the collective effort undertaken can bear fruit and no longer burden the development of businesses and employment.
At this 3rd Housing Conference, Christian Estrosi, President of Nice Cรดte dโAzur and Mayor-Deputy of Nice, will officially announce, alongside other partners, the city’s and the Urban Community’s participation in the “Land Pact 06” project.
This pact, which was developed through a partnership and which is now entering a consultation phase, is a plan of concrete, coherent, and coordinated actions for the period 2009-2011, shared by all local stakeholders. Its aim is to establish the production of housing in a virtuous circle and to facilitate the implementation of local housing programs (PLH) adopted by communities.
The measures included in this “Land Pact 06” confirm the signatories’ intent to build a common framework of action. Indeed, public intervention in the housing sector has become essential today to support the activity of the construction sector, a major economic activity in the department, and to regulate the market and land costs to make them compatible with the production of affordable housing.
