SoFAB by Telecom Valley announces the 4th edition of the Connected Objects & Services Trophy, a contest for creating connected objects in mixed teams, from April 15 to June 30. Students, professionals, and Internet of Things (IoT) enthusiasts who wish to participate can register their project or team online until April 15, the starting date of the contest.
Created in 2016, the competition organized by the FabLab of Telecom Valley in Sophia Antipolis is launching its new edition from April 15 to June 30, 2021. The goal of the competition is to design, manufacture, and demonstrate a connected object offering one or more services, in mixed teams composed of students, professionals, and technology enthusiasts. The 2021 edition is the fourth actual edition of the competition, which had been paused for the past two years due to a comprehensive restructuring of the FabLab.
Starting April 15, participants will have access for 10 weeks to SoFAB’s manufacturing facilities, the technical resources of the competition’s partners, and ongoing support from the FabLab’s volunteer experts during practical workshops. Those who are unsure can attend a discussion session on March 29 with the contest’s organizing team, which will address their questions, and all registered teams have an appointment on April 15 for a kickoff meeting.
Four prizes will be awarded to recognize the work in design and realization of the object, the utility of the service rendered, the best use of the competition’s resources, and the best live pitch during SophiaConf 20201 (June 28 to 30, 2021). Similar to Dry it Yourself or WellNest in 2018, NomadEV and Skavenji in 2017, and Transfarmers in 2016, the 2021 winners will receive awards offered by the competition’s partners. Beyond material rewards, the Connected Objects & Services Trophy also provides a great platform for budding inventors and entrepreneurs, as well as a wonderful human adventure.
