The 5th edition of “Dancing with Seniors”: Would you like to dance with me?

The seniors โ€“ whom the English more generously and modestly refer to as old boys or old ladies โ€“ represent a continuously growing portion of the population due to the decline in births and the increase in life expectancy.

Moreover, thanks to an ever-improving quality of life, seniors are increasingly healthy, have free time, and want to participate, socialize, and move!

To meet the expectations of this population, the Alpes-Maritimes department has implemented a true animation policy with a rich and varied catalog of initiatives: 21,249 people (an increase of 25% compared to 2017) participated, a figure that clearly indicates the popularity of this program.

Since 2014, the Alpes-Maritimes Department has been organizing โ€œDance with the Seniors,โ€ a large ballroom dance competition open to amateurs over 55 years of age in the Alpes-Maritimes.

Yesterday morning, the Laure Ecard hall was well-filled for the launch of the 5th edition, which this year became the Masters of Dance for Seniors, where the winners of the previous 4 editions are selected to participate.

In total, 11 couples will be judged by a prestigious jury chaired by Jean-Marc Gรฉnรฉreux, the famous judge from the show โ€œDancing with the Stars.โ€

The final will take place on January 20 at the Palais de l’Acropolis, in the presence of more than 2000 spectators.

For Eric Ciotti, deputy and president of the Finance Commission of the Departmental Council: “More than just entertainment, this friendly meeting contributes to the ‘well-aging’ of seniors by preserving their health and encouraging meetings and sharing.”
