This morning at 8 a.m., Charles Ange Ginésy, President of the Alpes-Maritimes Department, will give the start of the cycling race “Mercan’Tour Bonette DT Swiss,” in the presence of Christophe Menei, Co-president of the Alpes Azur club, Organizer of the Granfondo Alpes-Maritimes Challenge, and Laurent Elleon, Co-president of the Alpes Azur club.

This cyclosportive event, supported by the Alpes-Maritimes Department, contributes to promoting the Maralpine region and enhancing cycling routes and loops.

The “Mercan’Tour Bonette DT Swiss” features two distances with 250 participants for a mass start:

La Valbergane, a long course of 166 km with 4,000 m of elevation gain:

Starting from the Valberg resort, riders will be immersed in the heart of the Mercantour National Park. This year, due to the health situation, the long course has been modified and will consist of a round trip between Valberg and the Tour de la Cime de la Bonette (2802 m).

La Couillole, a shorter format of 87 km with 2,100 m of elevation gain:

On the itinerary, a round trip in the Tinée Valley up to Isola before tackling the Col de la Couillole (1678 m). This format will delight those who don’t have “the legs” to tackle the long course yet will still find, along the 16 km of the Couillole, an average gradient of more than 7%.
