This edition, a first on the French Riviera, took place from September 3rd to 8th in the Port of Nice.

122 students from 15 countries participated, including 36 female students, as it was also the very first Women’s World University Match Racing Championship.

Laurence Antimi-Loppin, director of the Regional FNSU, responsible for the organization, was particularly satisfied with the flawless operation of the setup: “The competitions were conducted with the seriousness and rigor guaranteed by the entire Organizing Committee team, along with the friendliness and good humor of an event involving students from around the world.”

On the competition side, by qualifying their two crews in the final, Brazil and Australia knew they would leave Nice as world champions! All that remained was to find out the names of the winners.

The finals delivered their verdict.

In the women’s category, Brazil, skippered by Decnop, dominated her compatriot Senfft after a fierce three-match series (2-1).

In the men’s category, it was the second Australian boat skippered by Gilmour that prevailed against Griffin in two straight matches. The two bronze medals were claimed by France (Julie Bossard) and Great Britain (Shaw).
