Medical school students unite to encourage pre-registration of voluntary bone marrow donors

don_moelle.jpg Following the positive reception by the faculty in 2013, the medical students of the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis will once again participate in the national mobilization organized by the Biomedicine Agency on the Pasteur campus.

This event promotes bone marrow donation on campus and aims to grow the community of bone marrow donors known as “Guardians of Life”.

Students, doctors, association representatives, and donor and recipient witnesses will be present during these 3 days at the information points in the facultyโ€™s entrance hall.

Each contact made, and each exchange or discussion represents an additional opportunity to convey the importance of bone marrow donation.

This mobilization brings hope to nearly 2000 people suffering from severe blood diseases who each year await a bone marrow transplant for treatment.

Last year, throughout France, the medical and pharmacy faculties of around thirty universities rallied together through the operation “Bone Marrow Donation, Students in Solidarity”. Thanks to their involvement, more than 1500 students chose to commit to life by pre-registering on the voluntary bone marrow donor registry.

Alongside them, thousands of health students were also made aware.
