The Alpes-Maritimes, a preferred destination for outdoor sports: the 5th edition of the Granfondo Challenge

Latest News

From Saturday, June 19 to Sunday, September 19, the Granfondo Alpes-Maritimes Challenge. This 5th edition promises to be very attractive with five dates finally scheduled across the entire territory, including two dates beyond the Maralpine borders between June and September 2021.

Supported since its launch in 2017 by the Alpes-Maritimes Department as a major partner, with no fewer than 5 cyclosportive events, the 5th edition of this Challenge is promising.

While 2020 was a challenging season, marked by the health crisis, where only three cyclosportive events could ultimately be held, the motivation of the various organizers has remained intact to move forward again with enthusiasm.

The Challenge will start in Castellane this Saturday and will conclude in Peille, passing through Vence, Valberg, and Cuneo.* It will traverse the most beautiful routes and passes of the Alpes-Maritimes on both sides of the French-Italian border. On the agenda: the Col de Vence, La Bonette by its unique Moutière side, the Couillole, La Fauniera, La Madone… And many others.

In 2019, nearly 7,000 participants took part in the various events of this cyclosportive Challenge. This success reflects the enthusiasm for our department for this sporting practice.

The ambition of the Club Alpes Azur, co-chaired by Christophe Menei and Laurent Elleon, is to rediscover the simple pleasure of gathering in large numbers in a calm health context.
