As is customary at this time of year, Éric Ciotti, President of the Alpes-Maritimes Department, presented his good wishes yesterday morning at the Departmental House for People with Disabilities (MDPH 06). It was an opportunity to review all the work accomplished and what remains to be done.

There was a crowd yesterday morning at the Alpes-Maritimes General Council. Éric Ciotti, President of the Alpes-Maritimes Department, extended his good wishes at the Departmental House for People with Disabilities (MDPH 06). He addressed departmental advisors, the press, but mainly the few MDPH staff members present for the ceremony.

He wanted to emphasize their work, dedication, and generosity. A team of 76 agents who work closely with disabled people every day throughout the department. Thanks to their efforts, 15,537 people were able to be welcomed at the MDPH in 2015. For phone reception, 54,200 calls were received by the toll-free number. This work of listening and reception allows people with disabilities to find the most suitable answers to their needs.

110 million euros in budget for people with disabilities

For 2016, the Alpes-Maritimes General Council has allocated a budget of 110 million euros. This enables better access to transportation, education, employment, as well as sports and leisure for disabled individuals. Éric Ciotti also wanted to remind that since 2012, through the “Handicap logement 06” plan, people have been able to find housing adapted to their needs.

But this ceremony was also the occasion to introduce the new director of the MDPH, Mrs. Michèle Froment, a coordinating doctor at the MDPH who has been working within the establishment since 2008. She has been entrusted with the helm and will be supported by Mr. Patrick Bollie.
