The Hard Rock Café, the famous establishment on the Promenade des Anglais, welcomed the team from the Alpes-Maritimes Committee of the League Against Cancer and its partners.
The association expressed its wishes for 2018.
What a great year 2018 is for the Committee of the League Against Cancer! In addition to celebrating the 100th anniversary of the national League, the Alpes-Maritimes Committee is celebrating its 60th anniversary.
On this occasion, the association was pleased to present the upcoming events for 2018. They were able to count on the presence of patron Stéphane Diagarra and a video from Noëlle Perna, both being patrons of the committee. They expressed their support and commitment. The comedian from Nice highlighted the work of the volunteers and employees of the association. “Everyone is doing their part and I wish that this year, we all practice seeing the wonderful side of things,” she said, quoting Oscar Wilde: “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”
Meanwhile, the world athletics champion spoke more specifically about prevention: “Physical activity is a key determinant in prevention.” He is therefore “wholeheartedly supporting this message.”
Donations for 2018
The Mimosas group, a charitable association of 8 expatriate young women, presented a check worth 206,750 euros to the committee “so they can continue their wonderful work of support, education, and help for the sick.” This amount was raised through all the events the Mimosas group has organized over the past 4 years.
Anthony, representing the Hard Rock Café and more specifically the Hard Rock Heals Foundation, presented a check for 5,000 dollars. All Hard Rock Cafés raise money through various activities, the sale of merchandise, and by organizing actions and events. Founded in 2016, the foundation aims to “contribute to healing and helping through the power of music.”
The ceremony of wishes concluded fittingly with music, featuring young singer John Wadies, accompanied by a guitarist.
