The president of the Alpes-Maritimes department, Charles-Ange Ginésy, who had already spoken about the conflict between Ukraine and Russia by condemning “Russia’s unjustified attack,” has once again spoken and reiterated his support for Ukraine.


He announced this Tuesday, March 1, that the Alpes-Maritimes department was capable of repatriating 1,000 Ukrainian refugees by special plane and relocating them.

Special flights, which are normally reserved by the department for transporting middle school students from the Alpes-Maritimes to the Auschwitz and Birkenau camps in Poland as part of the duty of remembrance, will be used for the repatriation of Ukrainian refugees.

Regarding the housing, a census of the relocation offer is underway in the department, organized with social landlords from the Alpes-Maritimes, their social partners, as well as the mayors of the department. The president of the department has stated that a hundred beds have already been identified in one day.
