Making the Alpes-Maritimes a National Reference for AI.

Following the international congress “SophI.A Summit,” dedicated to Artificial Intelligence, and a few days after the launch of OTESIA, the first Observatory of Economic and Societal Technological Impacts of Artificial Intelligence in France and Europe, the Departmental Council and its partners, including the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Sophia Antipolis Agglomeration Community, and the University of Cรดte d’Azur, continue to join forces to tackle the great challenge that AI represents.

Yesterday, prizes were awarded to the winners of the 11th Innovation / Health Call for Projects, which notably included a theme on AI as a tool to better assist clinicians and researchers in the fields of cancerology, loss of autonomy, other chronic disease treatment areas, and also to propose personalized treatments through medical data (database).

During this day, the 2nd conference of the #IADATES (a series of AI conferences) will be held on the theme “AI in service of health.”

Finally, the week will conclude with the laying of the first stone of the House of Artificial Intelligence, this Friday.

Located in Sophia Antipolis, this house will be a place for middle school students, researchers, entrepreneurs, and the general public. Its purpose will be to serve as a space for sharing, exchanging, and innovating, with the aim of raising awareness about AI, its applications, and challenges, and also to promote collaboration within the AI ecosystem in the region. Its opening is scheduled for January 2020.

According to Charles Ange Ginรฉsy, President of the Departmental Council of Alpes-Maritimes: “All these projects illustrate that the department must and can become a national reference for AI. They demonstrate our strength in being at the heart of the digital revolution.”
