arbre_tempete.jpg The General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes has requested the recognition of a natural disaster state, and the Prefecture is currently preparing the information file that will be reviewed in the coming days by the interministerial commission.

However, the Prime Minister and the Minister of the Interior have already informed Eric Ciotti that there will be no opposition to the request having a favorable outcome.

In Nice, the total rainfall accumulation at the slaughterhouses meteorological station between the 16th (9 am) and the 20th (midnight) is 222 mm. By comparison, the average in Nice for the month of January since 1943 is 74 mm.

Following this exceptionally significant event and the disturbances observed, the Mayor of Nice is also requesting the classification of his commune as a natural disaster area.

The amount for emergency interventions carried out since Friday by the city and the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis is being assessed and will be complemented by the estimation of the costs for restoration work over several weeks to address the identified damage.

For the metropolitan road network, preliminary estimates indicate 6 million euros of work, which will be refined in the coming days. For other areas (schools, public buildings, etc.), evaluations are ongoing.

Assessment of interventions since Friday, January 17 by the City of Nice and the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis: more than 160 interventions. The City continues to respond to reports.

In the Metropolis, 13 roads remain closed to traffic at this time, including 5 in Nice. Meanwhile, 19 roads are under alternating/half-lane traffic.

All schools in Nice were able to reopen this morning.
