While they congratulate themselves on the upcoming completion of line 2 of the Nice tramway, the Alternatifs regret the decision for an underground section in the eastern part of the line.
This underground passage is not only an extremely costly solution, but it also:
- reduces the number of stops and therefore increases the distance between two stops;
- by freeing up space, allows for unwanted automobile traffic to be maintained in the city center.
Furthermore, the Alternatifs remind us that the promise to extend line 1 to Ariane and La Trinité was secured by the residents of these neighborhoods thanks to their mobilizations, and that state aid was contingent on this promise.
The Alternatifs of Nice regret that no elected official recalled this commitment of the city during the adoption of the financing for line 2 at the municipal council meeting on October 7.
The Alternatifs express their solidarity with the residents of Ariane and La Trinité who have been abandoned by their current elected officials.
