soleil_rives-2.jpg This event, organized by the City of Nice and the concerned associations in honor of the Repatriated associations and public, Harkis, and their friends, will take place this Sunday, June 1st, from 10:30 AM to 9 PM in the Jardin des Arènes de Cimiez.

The solemn highlight of this event will be the mass for the repatriates, which will be celebrated at 11 AM.

In the late afternoon, the popular singer Enrico Macias will give a large free concert.

Throughout the day, musical entertainment, strolling magician shows, conferences, and meetings with local and national associations of Repatriates from Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia, and Harkis will be offered.

The dining areas will offer culinary specialties of the pieds-noirs: paella, couscous, skewers, merguez, mounas, cocas, agua limon, creponné, refreshment stands, and more…

Program:

10:30 AM: Music by the Firefighters’ Band interpreting the Marseillaise, the Song of the Africans, Nissa la Bella.

10:45 AM: Speeches by Christian Estrosi, Deputy-Mayor of Nice, President of the Metropolis Nice Côte d’Azur

11 AM: Mass for the repatriates celebrated by Father Maximilien Scotto and animated by the Nice Gospel Group performing ten songs.

12 PM: Ecumenical moment: the Nice Gospel Group, a Moroccan choir, and the Synod choir will perform together the song “Children of All Countries.”

12:20 PM: Opening of traditional dining stands with itinerant musical animations (Ideal Quartet and Trio Grande – with barrel organ) and a magician.

2:30 PM: Oriental dancers’ show followed by a conference by General Meyer on the Harkis.

3:45 PM: Writers’ roundtable, presentation of works, exchanges with the public (opening of the CDHA library from 10 AM)

5:30 PM: Free concert by Enrico Macias
