Opponents of the health measures marched in Nice and many cities across France on Saturday, January 8, as they have every Saturday for the past six months. Following Emmanuel Macron’s criticized remarks about the unvaccinated and the examination of the bill establishing a vaccine pass in the National Assembly, the authorities expected increased participation. The turnout confirmed this forecast.
In Nice, the protesters, in greater numbers than at the last march on December 18, paraded while denouncing the “covidism” and shouting slogans in response to the expression used by the President of the Republic: “Macron, we’re fed up…”
The most determined protesters have arranged to meet the Head of State on Monday morning in front of the former Saint-Roch hospital for a confrontation coinciding with his visit to Nice for the laying of the first stone of the construction site for the future hotel that will house both the national and municipal police, a first in France.
