Organized by the association La ManuFabrik*, La Grande Lessive, for both young and old, this Thursday, March 24, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Place des Mosaïques in the Ariane / Manoir district, provides an opportunity to contribute to changing the perception of this neighborhood!
La Grande Lessive is an international cultural event that takes place twice a year (like the mid-season spring cleaning of old times), created in 2006 by the artist Joëlle Gonthier.
Participants (both young and old) create drawings, photos, and collages on A4 paper (a format recognized internationally) based on a different theme each time.
In France and around the world, the theme for Thursday, March 24, 2016, is “Shifting Lines.” The artworks are collectively hung with clothespins on a clothesline in the street, schools, public squares, … a pretext to gather residents to share and (re)discover their commonalities and differences!
This year, La Grande Lessive of Ariane / Manoir is part of the Week Against Racism, offering an opportunity to begin work that may extend beyond just one “Week.”
From 10 a.m., initial hangings of artworks, notably with school visits, and the opening of spaces:
Free Zone: “give what you no longer need / take what you want even if you haven’t left anything.”
Mosaic and reuse workshop
“Street interviews”: What is a common place? by ZEST and Le Hublot and La Boîte.
Speech bearer “How to fight against racism?”
Workshops funded as part of the Residents’ Participation Fund will also display their works.
In the afternoon (time to be confirmed), hand delivery of a play mat for young children by the sewing collective to the director of the Léonard de Vinci Library.
From 3:30 p.m., shared snacks (everyone brings a little something).
