Benjamin Vautier, also known as “Ben,” known for his philosophical writings like “Turn your desires into reality,” came with his wife to get vaccinated at the “Théâtre de verdure.” At 85, the Naples native wants to set an example: “I am happy to be here, I support the vaccine, if some have doubts, I do not,” he stated before entering the site. There was not a crowd at the vaccination center, only a few elderly people, convinced by the vaccine, came in turn to pass under the nurse’s needle.
In the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, particularly affected by Covid-19, the region remains convinced that vaccination against the epidemic is key to returning to life as before. Before accessing the premises reserved for vaccination, “Ben” sticks to the usual practice concerning a phrase he thought of on the Covid-19 theme: “It’s not mine, but I find it wonderful, ‘Don’t just focus on the void,’ simple but effective,” he says, followed by the city’s mayor. Under the gaze of dozens of photographers, and with his arm bare, the nurse administers the shot. Along with a grimace, “Ben” gets vaccinated under the watchful eyes of Christian Estrosi.
The mayor of Nice took advantage of this moment to reassess the vaccination situation in the department, with reassuring news: “Every 24 hours, I need to be reassured about the doses the State gives us, but what I can tell you is we have enough to transport the doses for 15 days,” he stated before leaving the vaccination site. Many centers are open, a vaccine intended for people over 75, with the objective of opening access to high-risk residents in a few weeks.
