This ordinance, applicable from July 1, 2006, requires municipalities to charge associations for the events they organize (often benefiting charitable, cultural, or sports causes) in public spaces.
The Nice City Hall has thus enforced this against thousands of volunteers from Nice who regularly offer their time and money for activities you are familiar with.
If not, here are some examples:
– Among others, “Saint-Roch Mission,” a church association (receiving no subsidies), was charged 48 euros for occupying the forecourt of Saint-Roch Church for its annual charity sale!!
– “Le Hublot,” a cultural association, paid the Association Tax (100 euros) on the same day for a free event benefiting citizens at the Saint-Roch square!!
– The “Blood Donation” effort, in its mission to save human lives, must also pay this substantial Tax for the placement of the collection truck!!
A large gathering is organized on Saturday, November 4 at 10:30 AM in front of the St Roch Church to ask elected officials, notably Minister Christian Estrosi, to intervene with the government to revoke an ordinance that seems to penalize associations.
